King Seiko 44999
For me this is a classic: Hand wind, dauphine hands, box crystal and beautiful beveled lugs.

King Seiko 5246-6000
A different model, it is a bit small compared to other King Seiko watches.
It is hardly visible but it has a linen dial.
I like the solid caseback, no golden medallion, just a block of metal.
Also my only Seiko with an instant change of the day and date at 12 o'clock.

My watch maker will make a blog post about the watch.
I will add a link as soon as it is available.

Seiko King Quartz 4822-8000
Hi all, this watch has something special and I don't mean the blue dial. It is the case shape which adheres to Tanaka's Grammar Of Design...
It will be back soon. Edit: it is back...

King Seiko Grammar of Design
At some time in the sixties Taro Tanaka, Seiko’s first hired graduate of a College Design Program, came up with design rules which eventually came to be known as the “Grammar of Design” at Seiko. He wanted Grand Seiko and King Seiko watches to sparkle brilliantly when on display and without any distortions.

The rules were simplicity itself:

1. Perfectly flat surfaces and angles for cases, dials, hands, indexes
2. Two Dimensional faceted curves for the bezel
3. All d

Seiko King Quartz 0853-8030 Tatami with light brown patina
Seiko quartzes age well with patina, mostly cream or a brown hue. Mine has the latter patina; it is supposed to be silver of course. It also has an extraordinary Tatami dial (you know, the Japanese sleeping mat).

Seiko King Quartz 4822-8000
Pretty stoked about this beauty, freshly returned from my watchmaker, serviced, polished and a new crystal - it reminds me so much of the King Seiko 5625-7110..

Seiko King Quartz 9223-5000
"Silver dial" as a description for this gorgeous watch doesn't cut it - it has developed an ever so fine dial patina. And just look at the reed finish of the bracelet and the general fresh looks of this big Big Quartz from 1981 (one of the last KQ's). It appears brand new, it only has had a full movement service. So now it can last another 36 years, right?

FS: Seiko King Quartz 9223-5000
SOLD - 295 euro firm price, to your doorstep. This "silver dial" twin quartz from 1981 - the last of the line. Just look at the reed finish of the still very tight bracelet and the general fresh looks of this big Big Quartz . It appears brand new, it only has had a full movement service from Jan Ubels (look him up, he is well known). So now it can last another 36 years, right?
Price wise this is a steal, full service costing 120 euro, new crystal... so what do you actually pay for the watch wit

Seiko King Quartz 5856-8070
The way the bracelet is attached to the case is proper for this model, compare it to other 8070's. I think an experiment by Seiko to achieve a more flattened appearance on the wrist, and that works wonderfully well!

FS: Seiko King Quartz 5855-5000 Roman Dial
Asking 200 euro shipped, a Seiko KQ from 1977, runs +0.1 seconds a day! Roman dial with the unique Seiko solution for the IV - namely .... IIII This was done for the balance on the dial between 4 and 8.
It is still a beautiful dial with a natural light patina, that is, not locally discolored by the sun but by a uniform aging of the material. "tropical dial watches" are very popular among collectors ... grab your chance!

The King Seiko Vanac Crown Situation
In my research of the King seiko Vanac I encountered some less obvious variations than caliber, facetted glass, integrated bracelets and such. It is the plain unadorned crown that worried me when buying Vanacs, and not being able to find anything on this issue. But eventually I had to assume some Vanac models are relatively spartan and just have a focus on case, dial and crystal design. Below you will see some pictures that demonstrate my contention: that some Vanacs have a simple slightly bulgi

Seiko King Quartz 0853-8030
Time to post some new pictures of this watch, the other ones are in the tropical Dial thread. Anyway, it is an old school King Quartz from 1976 when they were still relatively thick with some very funky design. In 1978 thinner quartzes were released with different calibers - the 97, 99 etc. The calibers 0853, 0852, 4843, 4822 etc were then fased out.
